Very good summary of the intellectual currents that lead from the early Intetests view that the pursuit of money is less than virtuous, to the view that pursuit of self-interest in the form of commerce is beneficial to human freedom by its necessary restraint on the power of the state.

There are merits to this book, mainly that it shows a good grasp of the literature surveyed, so interdsts intereptation seems legitimate. One, their language and selection of words is very fancy and they go over-romantic sometimes and try as you might but you’ll lose them. This short book is an eye opener, for all of us w ho struggles interwsts the concept of paxsions in it reduced form.
It is worth knowing more than interestw do about where those ideas originated and why expectations didn’t play out as intended. This is a book that should be widely read, and I would recommend it to anyone remotely interested in the emergence of the capitalist system.
