May 04, Pages. I love the fact that he has grown up through his experiences to have come to terms with the compromises he has been cherruh to make for the good of the ashiditat and his fellow humans on the island AND with his guilt feelings over his neglect of family connections. Nov 03, Elizabeth Conspigator rated it it was amazing Shelves: Bren is a solid guy now and we’re seeing a lot more of Cajeiri, the eight-year-old son of the head of the Association, from his PoV.

Cherryh has a misogynistic cherryy Barb is so ridiculouslly wrong-headed and self-centered, but her bad behavior is a catalyst and it also is a metaphor for the ways that human behavior can be dangerous to the Atevi and in an Atevi dominated environment.

When I started this latest title, I got worried that Cherryh’s best character, grandmother Ilisidi, was going to take a backseat. Conspiratof so often with Cherryh, it is at its heart a story about culture clash between different species, in this case between the humans or a group of them that has been stranded on a far-off planet and the atevi the dominant species on that planet.

It led to some frustrating conversations, and now is a comfortable joke between “friends. And this is it – one truly huge epic told in episodes rather than a variety of plots in the conspiratorr universe. The next three novels in the series take the reader deeper into atevi politics of the past so that we can see how the threads run into the present.

Not my favorite trilogy in the series, unfortunately. So here’s my third attempt, which will be much shorter. Jun 21, Macha rated it liked it.

Jan 16, Joe Slavinsky rated it really liked it. Conspirator is the 10th Foreigner novel, and the 1st book in the fourth subtrilogy. And if their family files counter-Intent, well, your security could handle that, they’re quite good. Only things are far from settled. Cajeiri always seems to get into HUGE amounts of trouble, but that’s to be expected by an Atevi alien that grew up on a human-run spaceship. I especially like the narrator of the audios, but they are just as good in print, since I know how to pronounce all the Atevi names!

As is her style, Cherryh drags a very small scenario out over a few hundred pages. Other books in the series.

I want to know whether or not Barb really is using Toby, like Bren suggests, but we don’ While some parts were refreshing I will always adore Cajeiri and Illisidiit grows rather tiresome to run into the same situation repeatedly. Bren is a full Lord of the Atevi now. LitFlash The eBooks you want at the lowest prices. Cherryh was putting the Foreigner series to bed. That was the hope anyway, but the Aiji’s son Cajeiri, who has been on best behaviour for the past month is bored, annoyed and knows his living situation is going to become intolerable very soon.

But it has been a long time since Bren has been to Najida, and the war has shifted allegiances in many quarters. I want to know whether or not Barb really is using Toby, like Bren suggests, but we don’t get to see that. I loved how Bren really became Lord Bren in this installment; he was really invested in the welfare Najida and its people. As always the writing is crisp with excellent dialog.

At one point I had to ask myself whether I continued reading because I enjoyed the series or simply out of habit and was unable to provide a satisfactory answer.

Conspirator (Foreigner, book 10) by C J Cherryh

That has been the case for most of the books in this series, so I suppose I wouldn’t have made it to 10 if that bothered me too consppirator. In my opinion, this was one of the more interesting Foreigner books.

I have decided that these interludes by the author are used to show just how Atevi-like he has become. Because it is Geigi’s estate, it is assumed that the new, young, caretaker lord just needs to be shaped up a bit. I want to talk to him about our mother and make some apologies to him. She is the author of more than forty novels.

And with Bren, Cajeiri, cherrth Ilisidi all under one roof and separated from their allies, that trap is now baited. Cajeiri, the headstrong heir, is not pleased with being left out and sets out with his 2 teenaged bodyguards to follow Bren.

I wanted to like this book because I’ve enjoyed the first several books in the series, and in fact have re-read them several times. Cajeiri is bored silly, it’s no fun being the heir, and cobspirator his friends up in space, his great grandmother who has gone home to the east and Bren, he runs away. Since the rebellion, Bren Cameron’s apartment in the capital has been occupied by an old noble family from the Southern district—the same district from which the coup was initiated.

Also he’s just a fucking idiot so there’s that. This family now claims loyalty to Tabini, but the aiji is dubious.
